About the CESSNA 210D

The Cessna 210D, a part of the Cessna 210 Centurion series, is a single-engine, high-performance general aviation aircraft that has made a significant impact since its introduction. The initial Cessna 210 model was first flown in January 1957, but it was the 210D variant, introduced in 1964, that marked a significant advancement in its design and capabilities. The 210D broke away from some of the earlier models with its all-metal construction, retractable landing gear, and a more powerful engine, which positioned it as a versatile and reliable aircraft for a variety of aviation needs. The motivation behind developing the 210D was to create an aircraft that could offer greater speed, load capacity, and range without compromising on comfort and safety. This aircraft was aimed at private pilots, air charter services, and small to medium-sized businesses that required efficient aerial transportation. The Cessna 210D was equipped with a Continental IO-520-A engine, offering 285 horsepower, which allowed it to achieve a cruise speed of around 200 mph and a range of approximately 550 nautical miles. One of the notable benefits of the 210D was its retractable landing gear, a feature that was not common in earlier general aviation aircraft. This not only improved aerodynamic efficiency but also contributed to higher cruising speeds and better fuel economy. The aircraft featured a spacious cabin capable of accommodating six people, offering a blend of performance and comfort. Over the years, the Cessna 210D has maintained a reputation for reliability, robust performance, and versatility. Its ability to operate from short runways and its respectable payload capacity made it a favorite among pilots who needed a dependable aircraft for both personal and business use. The Cessna 210 series continued to evolve with subsequent models, but the 210D remains a significant milestone in its development history, embodying a balance of innovation and practicality in general aviation.
