About the CESSNA 650
The Cessna 650, also known as the Cessna Citation III, VI, and VII, is a family of American business jets developed by Cessna Aircraft Company. The development of the Cessna 650 series commenced in the 1970s, with the aim to create a high-performance, mid-sized business jet that could compete with the best offerings in the rapidly growing corporate aviation market. The first prototype of the Citation III took to the skies in May 1979, and the model achieved certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in April 1982. The following models, Citation VI and VII, were introduced in the late 1980s and early 1990s, respectively, as improved variants of the original Citation III. The series remained in production until the late 1990s.
The Cessna 650 series was motivated by the need for a fast, luxurious, and relatively affordable business jet that could offer transcontinental range while providing passengers with a comfortable and efficient travel experience. The Citation III, the initial model, featured a cabin capable of seating six to nine passengers, a high cruising speed of around 500 miles per hour, and a maximum range of approximately 2,100 nautical miles.
