About the GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE G-IV
The Gulfstream G-IV, also known as the Gulfstream IV, represents a significant milestone in business aviation, embodying luxurious travel coupled with exceptional performance. Manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace, the G-IV was introduced as the fourth generation of Gulfstream's successful line of business jets, with its maiden flight taking place on September 19, 1985. It officially entered service in 1987. This aircraft was developed as an advancement of the earlier G-III, targeting increased range, enhanced performance, and superior comfort, intending to cater to an exclusive clientele that includes corporate executives, government officials, and affluent travelers. The G-IV was received with high acclaim, largely due to its innovative features and capabilities. One of the prominent features of the G-IV is its extensive intercontinental range, capable of flying non-stop for approximately 4,350 nautical miles, thanks to its advanced Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8 engines. This range makes it an attractive option for long-haul flights, connecting major global business hubs without the need for refueling stops. The cabin design of the G-IV offers unparalleled luxury and space, accommodating up to 19 passengers with a high degree of customization in terms of interior layout and finishes. Technological advancements in avionics were also a highlight, with the G-IV featuring Honeywell SPZ-8000 avionics suite that enhances flight safety and situational awareness. Over 500 units of the G-IV were produced during its manufacturing run, making it a commercial success and a staple in the fleets of many corporate flight departments and charter operators. Its reliability, performance, and comfort cemented its place as a preferred choice among business jets of its time. Although production of the G-IV ceased in the early 2000s, its legacy lives on through its later iterations such as the GIV-SP and the Gulfstream G450, which continue to build upon the robust foundation laid by the G-IV. This aircraft undoubtedly carved a niche for itself in the realm of high-end business aviation, leaving an enduring mark on the industry.
